The Role:

  • To carry out affordability assessments for prospective customers to ensure that rents are affordable
  • To provide welfare rights information and advice to customers
  • To clearly explain the potential consequences of non-payment of any particular debt
  • To work with customers facing legal action as a result of rent arrears to prevent them losing their home, signposting to appropriate agencies where necessary
  • To assist customers with Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and other welfare benefit claims, specifically assisting with claims for backdated benefit and appeals
  • To attend benefit tribunals with customers where appropriate 

We’d love to meet someone with:

  • Experience in providing welfare benefits advice, especially Universal Credit and other Welfare Reform issues
  • Good IT skills including report writing and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to keep up to date with changes in relevant legislation, practice and policies which may affect the income maximisation service
  • A full UK drivers licence and use of a vehicle 

You may also have experience of:

  • Providing money advice
  • Social security appeal tribunal representation
