FTC – 12 months

We’re looking for a customer-focused individual with energy, experience and a strong sense of purpose to join us as a Repairs Surveyor.

The UK has a housing problem. This affects every one of us, because housing is the foundation of the society we live in. Catalyst is part of the solution. You could be too.

One of the UK’s leading housing associations, Catalyst is here to make a purposeful difference by providing housing solutions for those who can’t afford a home without our help. We offer a wide range of homes, for rent, part ownership or purchase. By doing so, we build more than homes – we build communities. Put simply, we’re committed to our social purpose - in every part of our organisation. And, we always seek to do better. If you do too, read on.

You will seek to understand fully your customers’ needs, identifying and working to remove pain points, and always doing what you say you will. Utilising your significant property maintenance experience, you will identify repairs and diagnose defects, advise customers, and ensure adherence to both health and safety and quality guidelines. You will oversee an area patch of mixed tenure properties, managing work to agreed financial limits. You will also be required to work closely with colleagues to share information and assist in solving tenancy management issues, carrying out joint visits as required. You’ll complete fire / flood / impact damage inspections, and inspection reports for medical referrals. You’ll also provide out of hours service support – including technical advice, guidance or instructions – and liaise and negotiate with relevant parties regarding shared ownership services. Among your responsibilities will be referring complex plant maintenance works, costing out rechargeable works, assisting with customer complaints, participating in estate inspections, carrying out surveys, updating procedures, dealing with insurance claims, and providing data when requested.

You are passionate about delivering excellent customer experience every time, by being easy, reliable and empathetic in the way you deal with customers and colleagues. To succeed in the role of Repairs Surveyor you will have a thorough understanding of building principles, components and materials, as well as property surveys, diagnosis and remedial action, and will be able to demonstrate the ability to diagnose repairs, draw up specifications, make technical decisions and problem solve. You’ll need a working knowledge of contract procedures, of overseeing and co-ordinating contractors and of managing works to completion. You should also be able to demonstrate an impressive understanding / knowledge of H&S legislation, and of asbestos. You’ll have experience of delivering an exemplary frontline service, and of using a range of computer software for surveying. You’ll also need the ability to present clear oral and written reports, and strong financial skills – including a keen awareness of value for money.

Please note we reserve the right to close the advert early if we receive a sufficient number of applicants.
