Senior Housing Renewal Officer
Full time - 37 hours per week
Salary £24,799 - £29,636 per annum (Grade 6)
Fixed term - 1 year
Discovery is a multi-agency operation to tackle criminality around human trafficking and modern slavery. The Councils role in this is to identify landlords who are not complying with the required legislation and who may be involved or housing victims of these crimes, illegal letting practices such as overcrowding in properties and unsafe properties and to provide support to legitimate migrants about their rights regarding housing.
The successful postholder will work within the Housing Renewal Team and act as a member of a team working in liaison with the Police and other agencies to contribute to the work of the Discovery Project.
The postholder will undertake inspections of properties in order to assess housing standards. The postholder will also be required to utilise housing legislation including HHSRS, licensing and management regulations, to effectively work to license and control housing accommodation.
Where appropriate you will participate in proactive operations with the Police and other agencies to address housing related issues at premises associated with Modern Slavery, human trafficking, and other illegal activities. You will work with the projects Community Relations Officer to ensure that migrants displaced by such activities are given appropriate advice and assistance.
The ideal applicant will have relevant experience working in a regulatory/enforcement type role and have experience of applying a range of housing legislation.
