The London Boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham and Brent are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to become the Managing Director of our Shared ICT Service.

The Shared ICT Service which has formed over the last four years provides secure, reliable and integrated technology solutions in alignment with business goals, while delivering excellence in customer service.

This is an exciting time to join the partnership as it seeks to consolidate its services and implement its new technology strategy.

This role will report to an Executive Director in one of the participating authorities, and will have leadership responsibilities across all authorities

The Post

 

The Shared ICT Service supports circa 10,000 users on their Infrastructure, Platform and End User Compute environments across the partner organisations and is currently implementing new ITIL orientated processes following a significant increase in the scale of the department.

A newly formed technology strategy and IT roadmap has been developed and the post holder will be accountable for driving the implementation of the strategy and roadmap forwards whilst delivering excellent services to the partners of the Shared ICT Service.

Current key projects include the migration of an existing data centre to cloud based hosting, implementation of Office 365 and the rollout of new technology to all users of the users of the service.

 

The Person

 

Success in this critical leadership role demands innovation and creativity as well as the ability to form strong partnerships and productive working relationships. You’ll need substantial senior-level experience of strategic IT management in a large, complex and changing organisation. This should be backed by the ability to influence and motivate people at all levels and a strong commitment to the aims and values of local government

A skilled advocate and negotiator, you have the communication skills to drive change. With a strong focus on the customer, you’ll understand how IT can deliver the vision of the authorities and meet the needs of its staff, customers and stakeholders. Excellent problem-solving and project management skills are essential. Experience of managing resources and budgets is vital.
