Internal Audit Executive
Right now there is a buzz about Waltham Forest. Bursting with culture, energy and opportunity, it is a place people want to live, raise a family and start a business.
It is an exciting time to join Waltham Forest, the first London Borough of Culture for 2019. The Council is currently entering a period of extensive investment programme of its assets, including masterplan for its historic Town Hall, introduction of house building, and a number of regeneration programmes across the borough.
About the role
You will be joining a lively team of auditors and be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of audits across a varied and interesting range of customers and topics. You will work individually or as part of a small team of auditors, with a team leader and audit manager to guide you. You will also work alongside audit specialists and private sector contractors to ensure we meet our customer expectations.
On a day to day basis, you will work with senior management and other Internal Audit Executives to develop and maintain effective working relations. As part of delivering individual audits, you will provide clear and concise written records of your work, write well supported audit reports and be able to influence auditees through written and verbal communication of statutory and other guidance and best practice.
Your ability to effectively engage and influence in a constructive manner will therefore be essential, demonstrating the value of a modern and effective internal audit service.
You will become familiar with the audit manual and approach, and apply this in practice; you will undertake and understand the processes of risk assessment, audit testing and what constitutes appropriate audit evidence. With supervision and support, the post holder will be able to help deliver against divisional objectives, to budget and meet deadlines.
Who will you be?
With professional outlook and presence, along with some experience in delivering internal audit or accounting services, you may be either part qualified with the Association of Accounting Technicians, or a part qualified auditor / Accountant (IIA, CIA, CCAB). You may however be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge through experience gained otherwise. You will be supported and funded to undertake mandatory training where this is considered necessary; and we will also fund you to complete your chosen professional qualifications, in line with training offered by the Council.
