The Major Projects and Technical Services (MPTS) department was created in summer 2018 to strengthen the council’s approach to major projects delivery and management of technical services; supporting NSC’s ambition to drive growth and regeneration across North Somerset and the West of England.
North Somerset Council has successfully delivered a wide range of major projects in recent years, including £16m property projects, £60m highways schemes and £10m annually on local transport schemes and maintenance. Projecting forward to 2022, we anticipate spending a further £220m on a range of new projects including regeneration schemes, new schools, housing, transport projects, leisure and flood relief schemes.
To enable the development and delivery of this ambition; the MPTS team are recruiting to a number of posts to ensure we have a focused, robust and high performing team, to complement existing team members, as part of the structure contained within the job description.
The Senior Project Manager (Buildings) will be a core part of the Senior Leadership Team, within MPTS, reporting directly to the Head of Major Projects; Overseeing a programme of up to £60m across a range of areas, such as housing, education, leisure, commercial and wider built environment areas.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own team, as well as the wider departments priorities and delivery going forward across the department. Providing leadership and a partnering approach, working with colleagues from across the council, as part of a one council project delivery; providing greater opportunities and quality of life for our residents.
