We’re looking for a client-focused individual with recent experience of providing specialist level housing advice to join us as a Housing Advice, Support and Guidance Worker and help ensure our clients get the support they need.

About the role
As Housing Advice, Support and Guidance Worker, your role will cover a mix of advice and support across a variety of locations in and around central Birmingham and with different client groups. While the main focus will be on housing advice, you will provide wider support depending on the needs of your clients. This will include carrying out initial housing needs assessments and developing a strategy with the client, working with local providers to find appropriate accommodation and supporting clients when moving into accommodation.
You’ll need experience of providing specialist level housing advice working with vulnerable people or those with multiple and complex needs and a proven ability to navigate external organisations/systems and build productive working relationships. Experience of researching and writing legally-evidenced submissions on behalf of clients will be required too and you’ll need to be able to respond to changing situations, for example, where clients present as immediately street homeless. Proactive, results-driven and sensitive to the needs of others, you work well within a team and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes if appropriate. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc. is essential.
