You will be working as a planning policy officer developing and updating our borough-wide plan. This is an exciting opportunity which offers a varied role with growing levels of responsibility as your career progresses.

What you’ll be doing…

Researching and prepare background evidence and reports to support new and updated planning policies in a revised Local Plan

Commissioning specialist studies and research and managing contractors

Communicating with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including developers, site promoters, statutory organisations and interest groups

Drafting planning policies with a thorough understanding of policy implementation

Preparing written reports and statements and present information and advice to elected councillors, and at Examination.

Ensuring effective corporate project co-ordination, project delivery and communication

This role will be challenging, requiring the candidate to be enthusiastic and passionate about learning and contributing to the wide variety of work undertaken by the team in the areas of land-use planning.  Opportunities will be provided to study for an RTPI accredited qualification and complete the RTPI process leading to chartered membership.    As your role progresses you will need a thorough knowledge of planning legislation and be able to demonstrate the ability to prepare reports on complex issues across all areas of plan making.
