As an assistant employment lawyer at Southwark, you’ll handle your own caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, making sure you can provide a quality and responsive legal service to clients.
Acting as a key source of legal advice for all departments within the Council, you’ll liaise closely with HR and other officers on all aspects of employment law. You'll provide employment advice in transactional matters and in response to adhoc queries. You'll prepare thoroughly for cases before the tribunals and courts, instructing counsel and conducting your own advocacy as appropriate.
We’re looking for a qualified Solicitor - either with a current practising certificate or eligible to apply for one - a Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. Someone with experience of providing legal advice in employment law, you’ll be adept at building strong client relationships and will have a good understanding of legal frameworks within the public sector.
