£51,979 per annum for 36 hours per week based at County Hall, Penrhyn Road, Kingston Upon Thames, KT1 2DN. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception. We are looking to relocate back into the county by 2020.

About the role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Principal Lawyer to lead our successful in-house property legal team.

We are looking for a flexible, motivated and ambitious property lawyer with experience of commercial projects to join our progressive service, which has been working in partnership with legal services in Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council as Orbis Public Law. The vision is to create 'A single, resilient, sustainable cost effective legal service with a public service ethos with an ability and ambition to grow'. As a Principal Lawyer heading up Surrey County Council's legal property team you will have an unrivalled opportunity to actively and strategically contribute to the future delivery of first class legal services across the partnership.

You'll be passionate about leading and working as part of a team that delivers timely, clear and effective legal advice, representation and assistance to the Council, its partner authorities and clients served by Orbis Public Law. You will be expected to manage a team, contribute to the strategic management of the service and hold a quality caseload of complex matters relating to commercial property. Recent legal experience, either in-house or in private practice is essential. We are looking for demonstrable management and/or supervisory skills.
