Graduate Programme - Project Officer

Package description

We are looking for talented individuals who have recently graduated to join our Graduate Development Programme as Project Officers.

You will be innovative, adaptable and enthusiastic with an interest in Local Government.  You will quickly take on responsibility for projects that will make a real contribution towards the impact and efficiency of public services for the residents of both Richmond and Wandsworth.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across up to four different directorates over two councils with different political outlooks. This is therefore an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in starting their career in local government but isn’t quite sure which area is for them!

There will be a number of development opportunities over the programme including access to a mentor and the opportunity to obtain a management qualification. There will also be opportunities to shadow directors and managers, to attend meetings with local councillors to understand the political context and to participate in London wide and national events.

We are offering a starting of £25,295 per annum and 31 days’ annual leave. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to proceed to higher salary grade in their second year (subject to meeting the requirements).  Further benefits include eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme and local staff discounts on products and services such as fitness membership, healthcare membership and restaurants.

The closing date is given as a guide. We reserve the right to close this vacancy once a sufficient number of applications has been received. Therefore, it is strongly advised that you complete and return your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
