Job Coach for SEND Supported Internships - start date: 1 September 2019

School: Bradfields Specialist SEN Academy, Medway Towns, Kent
304 Pupils Aged 4-19 with MLD/ASD/Complex Needs
Principal: Miss Marie Sweetlove

OFSTED said in 2017: Pupils flourish because they are extremely well looked after in a nurturing and enabling environment. The school transforms pupils’ lives and opens up the world to them.

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, highly motivated individual who will be able to coach, mentor and nurture students in the development of their work related skills and experiences as part of our new Supported internship Programme.

You will be instrumental in furthering the magic we create in this very successful part of our Academy provision for students in the 19-25 age range with a range of Special Educational Needs.

The successful candidate should be a good communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills. They will be able to engage effectively with students, colleagues, employers and Parents/Carers.

The role will involve the provision of support to interns with a disability helping them develop the skills to perform and learn their role through job accuracy, efficiency and safe working practices. They may also assist with helping the intern acclimatise to their new working environment, and in building their confidence and resilience. There may also be the opportunity to support students with travel training in support of the development of life long skills.

Another vital aspect of the role will be will in supporting employers and other workers to become confident in working with and supporting interns to carry out their duties. We are looking for an individual who has the vision and a drive to promote fair access to employment and enable young people to take their first steps towards independence.

The successful candidate will be provided with individualised professional support and induction; including accessing further professional qualifications as required.

We would encourage interested applicants to arrange a visit to our academy as we are confident that such an opportunity will convince them that they would really love to support Bradfields Students in taking their next steps into the world of work!

Please look at our website:

Staff at Bradfields have access to the Fortis Trust package of benefits, which includes a wide range of professional development opportunities and wellbeing support. Staff can also join the salary sacrifice scheme for childcare vouchers and the cycle to work scheme. As a Mindful Employer organisation, we also encourage staff to take part in regular ‘wellbeing days’ during the year.

The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced criminal record check via the DBS system (for Children & Vulnerable Adults). We are an equal opportunities employer.
