The Repair and Maintenance team has the responsibility for carrying out responsive and planned maintenance works to Lancaster City Council’s housing and non-housing stock. In order to improve service levels, meet performance targets and increase the working base, the team is now looking for a motivated individual to add to our current workforce.

The successful candidate must demonstrate good working skills and techniques, with an ability to work on your own initiative and with minimum supervision. You must also have the flexibility of other craft based maintenance skills to meet the demand/variety of our maintenance workload.

You must have an understanding and experience of working with the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure safe-working practices are applied at all times, whilst meeting high levels of customer satisfaction.

NVQ Level 3 in Installing and Commissioning Electro-technical Systems, or an equivalent City & Guilds Electrical qualification is essential.  You must also be fully conversant and trained up to the latest 17th or 18th edition IEE regulations inclusive of Amendments.

The applicant must have 2391 Inspection & Testing / equivalent or a good working knowledge of testing and inspection safety measures, practices and procedures.

The successful applicant must have a full UK driving licence, as you will be required to provide responsive support across the district and transport all equipment and tools needed.

This post is permanent. You are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week (you will accrue an extra 1 days leave for every 20 days worked). The working pattern will be working Monday to Thursday, 8.00am – 4.30pm and Friday, 8.00am - 3.30pm, however occasional flexibility in working hours will be expected.

Your administrative centre will be White Lund Depot, Morecambe.

You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
