We are looking for an ambitious, motivated and driven individual to join our high performing Estates & Development Team at an exciting time.  Welwyn Hatfield is looking ahead and is adapting to continue to be at the forefront of best practice and to be financially self-sustainable. 

Reporting to the Team Leader (Estates) and forming an integral part of the Council’s Estates & Development Team your role will be to act on behalf of the Council to manage and maintain its broad portfolio of land and buildings, and its other interests in land, such as management of and release of covenants.

You will assist the Team Leader (Estates) in the management of the Council’s commercial, operational, investment property and any other leased land and buildings in order to ensure the optimisation of income, the health and safety of individuals, the accurate management of records and the protection of the Councils property interests

In 2018/19 the Council’s investment in Hatfield Town Centre has been recognised on a national level by reaching the finals for the Local Government Chronicle Awards, The Planner Awards and The MJ Local Government Awards.  The Council was the first to secure £10.6m funding from the Homes England Accelerated Construction programme.

Managing a Surveyor (Estates), your role will be to ensure that the key objectives of the Council are achieved, through sound management of the portfolio, providing advice to senior officers on property transactions and negotiations, and management and control of property records

Experience of working in an estates management environment is essential and experience of working in both public and private sector is desirable but not essential.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
