Empty Property Officer

We are looking to recruit to an exciting post in our Regeneration and Housing team to deal with empty properties within the Borough.

As the Council’s Empty Property Officer, you will play a leading role in dealing with empty properties and bringing them back into use.

You will investigate complaints and referrals about empty properties and maintain our database of long term empty properties. You will encourage owners to bring empty properties back into use and provide advice and assistance. You will also be responsible for initiating and leading on enforcement interventions, including remedial action.

This is seen as essential, high profile work within the Borough and therefore we need a highly motivated, skilled professional who has the drive and determination to succeed.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of empty property issues and of the legislation and enforcement tools available to help bring empty properties back into use. Ideally, you will also have a good knowledge of building construction and practice.

If you are interested in this role, we would love to hear from you!

In return for your commitment, we can offer a rewarding employment package and a challenging and supportive working environment with excellent opportunities to develop your career.

Please Note: This is a Safety Critical Role, which is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing
