Senior Finance Officer

Job Details

We are currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Senior Finance Officer post within the Corporate Finance Team of the Finance Hub. The role is primarily responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the area of medium term financial planning, the setting of the Council’s annual budget and the accounting arrangements relating to the Collection Fund.

Main duties include co-ordinating the budget process; maintaining and updating the medium term financial plan; processing adjustments between service department budgets and keeping departmental cash limits up to date; completing various statutory financial returns; preparation of financial data on a wide variety of topics to deal with queries arising from senior officers and elected members; supporting the Finance Manager with the accounting requirements of the Collection Fund. This is a great opportunity to gain an overview of the Council’s finances and how the budget comes together. The post-holder will also be expected to work flexibly across the team, providing a unique opportunity to acquire valuable experience in all aspects of corporate finance.

The role requires a hardworking, well organised, highly numerate individual, who can work flexibly to provide high quality financial support. Previous experience of working in a financial environment, using computerised financial systems (preferably SAP) and Excel are essential. It would be desirable for applicants to either hold or be actively studying towards an accountancy qualification.
