Digital Development Officer

Bracknell Forest Council is undertaking a major transformation programme - reshaping how our services are delivered as we respond to the financial challenges facing local government. We are looking to recruit an experienced web application developer to help improve and extend the range of digital services provided to residents in the borough.

As a Digital Development Officer you will help us to build self-service through our Firmstep Customer Experience platform. You will develop expert knowledge of the Firmstep platform and build and progress a development plan aligned to the councils transformation programme. You will manage development work and projects, working with service teams and external suppliers to:

  • maintain, extend and enhance existing corporate applications
  • develop integrations between key corporate systems using standard APIs, web services or other methods
  • contribute to the delivery of projects in an agile environment, ensuring all development projects are successfully completed

You must be a dynamic and fantastic team player, possess excellent communication skills and be committed to continually improving services. You must also be motivated by the challenge of delivering significant customer and business benefits across the council. The role is one of two digital development officers and part of a digital services team responsible for managing and improving the councils digital resources, which includes a public website, intranet and a wide range of other web applications.

As an area, Bracknell Forest has much to offer. It is a small, modern town that is currently benefitting from a major programme of regeneration which is revitalising the town centre and will bring an abundance of new retail outlets, restaurants, cafes and leisure opportunities.  Though much of its centre is modern, Bracknell has a strong historic background. Once part of the Windsor Great Forest, it still nestles in woodlands; one fifth of the borough is forest, with another fifth protected for its high wildlife value including ten sites of specific scientific interest.

Located in the heart of the Thames Valley and close to Reading, the town of Bracknell has excellent road and rail links to all areas of the UK, with the council office situated within two minutes walk of the station.

Bracknell Forest Council prides itself on being an excellent employer. We offer a fantastic range of benefits including flexible and agile working arrangements, as well as learning and development opportunities which will offer the chance to develop and progress your career.
