Student Environmental Health Officer

We have an excellent record of students completing their competency portfolios and now have a great development opportunity for candidates already training to be an Environmental Health Officer, and holding either a degree or masters in Environmental Health.

Mid Kent Environmental Health Service works across the boroughs of Maidstone, Swale and Tunbridge Wells from bases in Tunbridge Wells and Sittingbourne. With coastal sites, and towns within Kent, this gives successful candidates the unique opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of environmental health work required to complete their practical training. The post base will be rotated around the different teams: Private Sector Housing, Food & Safety, Environmental Protection and Environmental Response. Opportunities will also be provided across the other local authority districts in the shared service to ensure that the competency portfolios can be completed.

The role will involve working closely with and supporting the Environmental Health Officers in the team in their day to day work on a fixed term (12 months) contract.

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a passion for Environmental Health work, with potential to develop into high calibre Environmental Health Officers. You will be an excellent communicator, highly motivated and with a track record of being able to learn quickly and put new skills into practice.

You must be a student member of the CIEH and you will be in the process of or have completed a CIEH registered degree or masters in Environmental Health.

Please note – the post does not guarantee an Environmental Health Officer role within Mid Kent Environmental Health at the end of the placement.
