Trainee Auditor/Apprentice

Trainee Auditor/Apprentice (Ref: 2N317P)

Salary up to £15,796 p.a (National Minimum Wage – according to age)

Initial one year contract

A new position has been created within Broxbourne Borough Council’s busy shared Internal Audit service. It is an interesting career opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed individual who will be trained in all aspects of internal audit. The role will also involve working at three different councils: Epping Forest Council, Harlow Council and Broxbourne Council.

As an Internal Audit Apprentice, the successful applicant will support the team in the delivery of audits across the three councils, in line with the Annual Audit Plan and also any ad-hoc tasks required by the Head of Internal Audit. Working with fellow auditors, the candidate will undertake a range of financial and non-financial audits, assessing the effectiveness of controls and risk management systems in place and identifying opportunities for improvement in those processes.

The successful applicant will undertake on-the-job training for four days per week and college/study activities on one day per week leading to a Level 2 or Level 3 AAT Apprentice qualification, during term time from September 2019. This role may lead to a future permanent post and the opportunity to study for a professional Internal Audit qualification.

Applicants must be educated to ‘A’ level standard, ideally with two good ‘A’ levels and GCSE passes in Maths and English. They must be hardworking team players with good written and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail with the ability to problem solve. They must also have a current valid driving licence and their own daily transport.

We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.

Broxbourne Council is an Equal Opportunities employer.
