Job Introduction

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen at our school and we are looking for an experienced SENCo or ambitious teacher to fill the post of Inclusion Manager and SENCo for a 6 month period.  We would happily consider a secondment for the right person looking to gain additional experience, or perhaps someone who has completed, or is completing the SENCo training and would like to develop and build on their qualification.  This position might also suit someone who has recently retired but looking for a short-term contract, or someone who is moving on from their current position and looking for a new challenge.  This position could be offered on a part-time (0.8) or full time basis.      

Contract Dates: Monday 4th November 2019 through to Friday 22nd May, 2020

Applicants should / may have:

  • Previous experience leading a curriculum area
  • An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the revised ‘Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 - 25’
  • Have a good understanding of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education – September 2018’ & ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children July 2018’
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of SIMS
  • Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead

Applicants will need to be able to:

  1. Work with colleagues and a variety of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes for all learners who are identified as having special educational needs
  2. Ensure robust tracking systems are in place to monitor and track pupil attainment and progress
  3. Disseminate good practice in SEND across the school
  4. Work with the Headteacher to ensure allocation of SEND staffing matches the schools SEND need / provision
  5. Review and implement SEND / Medical Needs policy and practice across the school
  6. Form strong links with, and liaise with a variety of external agencies to secure good provision for pupils
  7. Liaise and report to Governors annually on Special Educational Needs and Safeguarding in the school

The successful applicant will keep the Headteacher and the team up to date on all aspects relating to special educational needs, Child Protection and Safeguarding in the school.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
