Havering Adult College are now looking to recruit a sessional part-time Employability teacher. Courses are predominantly during term time and once a week, although they will be mostly delivered during the daytime.

Part-time Sessional Teacher: Employability
The successful candidate will deliver a number of Employability courses.
You will prepare and deliver teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of the learners and the service. You will support the learners during the course and help develop learner confidence. This will include but is not limited to:
- Employability sessional teaching covering a range of accredited/ non accredited courses (day time and evening)
- 1-2-1 workshops with learners
- IAG sessions at Job Centres (JCP) to support with referrals.
The role is responsive and dependant on the level of interest and demand from referrals. Each course is planned to run once a week. There is also scope to offer more training depending on your skills, qualifications and availability.
The hourly rate of pay for this course starts at £25.50 and includes planning and marking where required. Holiday pay is also included within the hourly rate. the hourly rate goes up to £26.58 depend on level of qualification and the type/level of course delivered.
New appointees are required to attend induction meetings and attendance will be paid at a rate of £9.50 per hour. You may be required to undertake training courses that the Council considers necessary during your period of employment in this post. This essential training provided in-house is compulsory and attendance will be paid at a rate of £9.50 per hour, and does not include the teacher training programmes.
You will support the learners throughout their learning programme, ensuring assessment records are kept up-to-date, targets are met and meaningful feedback is provided.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of Equality and Diversity, and an appreciation of the requirements of teachers under the Safeguarding of Children & Vulnerable Adults regulations.

Although it would be desirable to hold a SVUK endorsed Level 4 Teaching Qualification for post-compulsory settings and an Assessor Certificate (Level 3), consideration will be given to applicants who do not hold, but are willing to gain, their Teaching Qualification and Assessor Certificate, if successful. Details of this can be discussed at interview.”
Successful candidates should hold:
- GCSE A*-C English and maths qualifications (or equivalent)
- A qualification in the subject (or relevant experience) appropriate to the Level(s) of the course(s) advertised here
The successful applicants will be responsible for planning and delivering the courses, as well as their own travel to and from the delivery centres.
You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and have extensive knowledge and skills related to the area(s) of teaching and the ability to research, produce and use teaching resources to maintain high standards of learning in different environments including the use of e-learning. It is also essential that you have a desire to develop and use new methods of teaching and learning to engage and motivate your learners.
In line with national priorities, you will also be expected to support and develop your learners’ English and maths skills.
