Birkdale High School is a popular and successful all-boys 11-16 comprehensive Academy with an excellent reputation, outstanding pastoral care and consistently above national average academic results.
The school has seen its numbers rise over the last few years and is officially oversubscribed from next year.
At Birkdale we aim to be leaders in the education of boys and this starts with a clear focus on developing effective teaching pedagogy and not engaging in educational fads or gimmicks. Our development of teaching is driven by a focus on cognitive science and educational research and our quality assurance of teaching is developmental rather than judgemental. Our teachers are given the space and support to make positive changes to their teaching in a risk-free environment; we watch each other teach, share best practice and are eager to accept our professional obligation to improve methods of embedding the knowledge our boys need.
The Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed person to join our SEND department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and inclusive school and make a genuine and significant difference to the lives of children. The successful candidate will work within the SEND department working with groups of children or supporting individuals in class or in our Learning Hub
The successful candidate is required to start as soon as possible. The appointment is temporary for 3 months in the first instance but could lead to a permanent position.
Further details and an application form can be downloaded from www.birkdalehigh.co.uk or obtained from Ms Karen Anslow at the school. Completed application forms should be emailed to email@example.com by 12.00pm on Wednesday 31 July 2019.
Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place on various dates during August to be arranged based on candidates’ availability.
Birkdale High School safeguards children and actively promotes their welfare. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to the acquisition of an enhanced DBS certificate with barred list information through the Disclosure and Barring Service and further checks as required. All teaching positions will also be subject to a prohibition order check.
