The Local Governing Body of St Margaret Clitherow are seeking to appoint a highly organised, self-motivated Clerk with a professional manner and the effective communication skills required to provide full support to Governors.
The Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of meetings, preparing agendas and papers and taking accurate minutes. They will advise on governance, constitution and procedural matters and provide full administrative support to the Local Governing Bodies of both schools.
The successful candidate will have experience of working effectively in a clerk / administrative or secretarial role and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills. Candidates should also have experience of effective record keeping, strong IT skills and be committed to maintaining confidentiality at all times. Experience of clerking in an Academy school is desirable.
This role offers good flexibility with working hours and the ability to work from home. However, the successful candidate must be able to attend a minimum of 16 committee meetings per school year, which are usually held during the evening.
In addition, clerk support will be required at least once a term for meetings held during the school day. Hours of work are therefore variable, hours are approximately 50 hours per term.

Pre–employment medical check
You may be asked about your physical ability to perform the job during interview. As a condition of the Offer of Employment, the successful applicant will be asked to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire from which our Occupational Health Advisor will assess your medical suitability to do the job. You may be required to attend a medical examination.
On your application form you will be asked to provide the names and addresses of two people who will provide a reference. At least one should be from your current/most recent employer. If you are not currently working with children/adults at risk but have done so in the past it is important that a reference is obtained from the employer by whom you were most recently employed working with children/adults at risk.
Employment references must be provided by your current or most recent line manager and will not be accepted from relatives or people writing solely in the capacity of friends. However, your referees may include someone you know with standing in the community i.e. a teacher, vicar etc.
