Mental Health Specialist and Substance Advice Service Team Leader

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people, some of whom have entered the criminal justice system? If so, this is a unique opportunity to lead a team dedicated to tackling the mental health and substance misuse needs of vulnerable young people.


Working as part of the North Somerset Youth Offending and Prevention Service you will ensure comprehensive assessments and implement effective intervention programmes - directly and through the supervision of others. You will work in partnership with other Service areas other agencies to ensure effective care programmes. Your professional and managerial expertise – as a mental health nurse or approved social worker - will make you a credible advocate for young people and enable you to support colleagues to achieve positive changes.


The postholder will take a lead in the development of the annual substance misuse treatment plan for young people which is informed by a Needs Assessment prepared within North Somerset Council; and contribute to the annual Youth justice Partnership Plan.


This post is funded by Public Health, North Somerset Council and NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group.
