Salary Range: £24,799 pa progressing to £26,999 pa
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

We have a vacancy for a computer savvy technician who is interested in learning about assistive technology for children with special educational needs. You will be a confident problem solver, able to find technological solutions to ensure that access equipment and software works optimally to support children with hearing, vision and physical disabilities.

The team
You will be a key part of our SEND Specialist Advice and Support (SEND SAS) service within Integrated Services for Learning.  Our teams work with children and young people (aged 0-25) with a range of special educational needs.

The role
You will be responsible for managing the range of assistive technology and equipment needed for children to access the curriculum. This will range from personal FM systems for deaf children, to Braille systems for blind learners which may also include software to use as a communication aid, magnifier or alternative to writing. You will work closely with Curriculum Access Specialists and be a key point of liaison with manufacturers, keeping up-to-date with what is available.

Your skills
Experience in working with assistive technology is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. What is important is a strong basis in office software and confidence with technology, together with a desire to learn about how devices work and how these may be customised for individual needs.

We can offer you a friendly, supportive working environment, a full induction and ongoing professional development. The role necessitates extensive travel around the whole county and access to a vehicle is essential.
