Homelessness is high on the national agenda and we are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Housing Needs and Standards team as a Senior Specialist Advisor.

Housing Needs and Standards provide a range of housing services including HMO licencing, disabled facilities grants, housing applications, advice and options. The team are also responsible for preventing homelessness, managing temporary accommodation and a growing portfolio of commercial tenancies.

It is an exciting time to join the team. You will have the opportunity to help improve the service, work across a range of different cases and support a number of new projects and initiatives.

You will provide high standards of advice and support to colleagues to resolve cases of varying complexity.

You will also provide performance and quality control for the overall delivery of the specialism, working with teams across the Council, providing technical mentoring and support, encouraging the transfer of knowledge, improving performance and the customer journey.  You will also take responsibility for delegated corporate projects and strategies.

You will have a track record of achievement in, and an in depth knowledge of, housing services and you will have particular experience in implementing change to improve services.

You must have strong communication and negotiation skills with an ability to form excellent working partnerships and be able to lead, steer and motivate teams working in a ‘matrix’ environment effectively.

Some experience in the private rented sector market is desirable but not essential.
