We’re looking for someone to join us as an Apprentice Motor Fitter, where you’ll undertake a Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship over Four years. Throughout your time with us, you’ll work towards gaining a technical certificate and onsite qualification, along with all of the associated skills you need to succeed.
You’ll be working alongside an experienced mechanic and will get involved in a variety of tasks including servicing, repairs and replacing components. You’ll be trained on using specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics tools to rectify faults on Council Fleet & customer vehicles.
Alongside your on-the-job training you will attend college on a day release, studying motor vehicle service and maintenance whilst working towards a Level 3 qualification in heavy vehicle repair and maintenance.
You will also be given the opportunity to grow your knowledge and directly assist in a hands-on role. For someone who is committed and has a desire to learn and grow, this role offers great potential.
Your duties will include:
Performing simple repairs
Learning repair techniques
Inspecting and testing vehicles
Disassembling vehicles and engines
Following maintenance checklists
Cleaning the shop, inventory and workshop areas
We’re looking for someone who has:
A keen interest in cars or other motor vehicles.
A basic understanding of mechanical engineering.
Good communication skills to deal with customers of all types.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as the confidence to work individually.
Good organisational skills.
Good manual dexterity.
This is a fixed term apprenticeship for 4 years on the condition of getting a qualification.
