Job description

The role will primarily support the Senior Portfolio Manager in providing insight, information and support that strengthens portfolio governance and enables prioritisation decisions and effective allocation of resources across the portfolio, converting this into informed insights using appropriate reporting and data visualisation methods.

· Support the Senior Portfolio Manager to provide performance reporting of progress against the Change and Transformation Plan, using key metrics to support the evaluation and effectiveness of the DBS change activity.

· Support the coordination and development of reporting from projects and provide analysis of performance at portfolio level, identifying any trends, gaps and key issues to be escalated.

· Report portfolio performance against KPIs to support evaluation of value for money, project delivery performance and resourcing.

· Recognise and track interdependencies at portfolio level across change projects

Person specification

Essential Criteria

ABILITY

  • Ability to build effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with ability to present complex data in a clear and comprehensible way.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in partnership and across organisational boundaries.
  • Resilience in challenging circumstances: ability to work under pressure, remaining calm but decisive.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working change or project environment.
  • Able to prioritise work, working within a fast-paced environment providing a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Experience working within teams to deliver shared goals.
  • Experience of analysing data to provide performance reporting to ensure successful delivery.

TECHNICAL

  • Understanding of relevant project methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams

Desirable Criteria

ABILITY

  • Experience of working within a politically sensitive environment

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of influencing and constructively challenging teams and stakeholders based on insight.

TECHNICAL

  • Recognised qualification in relevant field (e.g. project management).
  • Understanding and working experience of Government Functional Standards.
  • Understanding of corporate governance requirements
  • Understanding of the safeguarding environment.
