About the role

We are looking for an exceptional and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team of support staff at Dorset’s top-performing school. This is a maternity cover for 1 year fixed term.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a valued role within our busy SEND department, providing high-quality administrative and clerical support and helping to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of our services to students and staff.

No two days are quite the same. You will provide essential administrative support relating to vulnerable students, alongside a variety of general office duties, helping the Inclusion Department to run smoothly and effectively.

You will work closely with parents, teaching colleagues and external agencies so being approachable, professional and an excellent communicator is essential.

Are you:

  • Warm, friendly and approachable, with a confident telephone manner.
  • Highly organised and efficient, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident using IT, particularly the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Discreet and professional, with the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • A positive team player who is enthusiastic, adaptable and keen to help.
  • Experienced in using SIMS (Schools Information Management System)? This would be an advantage, but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Could this be your next role?

Come and join us and be part of a school where staff are valued, supported and inspired to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people every day.

Actual Salary £12,482 - £13,090 per annum (Grade 6, SCP 6-9) pay award pending.

This job is Term Time Only for 20.00 hours per week and 39 weeks per year.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Our school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

The Woodroffe School is a vibrant and rewarding place to work, where dedicated professionals share a deep commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, and where students flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

As an 11–18 Local Authority maintained secondary school, we are proud to uphold a strong culture of teacher professionalism and autonomy. We are one of only 34 Maths Hub schools in the country.
