
Admissions Assistant (Coordinated Admissions & Appeals)
This position is offered on a part-time basis (21 hours per week) for a fixed term of 14 months.
Role Purpose
The Tower Hamlets School Admissions Service provides high quality services to children, schools and families in respect of school admissions, appeals, home to school travel, children missing education and elective home education.
Key Responsibilities
There is now an opportunity for an admissions assistant (coordinated admissions & appeals) to join the team to help carry out day to day work relating to school admissions, appeals, and related matters. The successful post holder will be expected to ensure that the Local Authority fulfils its statutory duties within set timescales. The nature and demands of the service require people who are flexible and capable of supporting other areas of the team’s work when required.
Requirements
The successful candidates that will be considered require:
- Experience of school admissions work within a school or local authority setting.
- Ability to assimilate knowledge of the current legislation, statutory procedures and codes of practice relating to school admissions and school admission appeals.
- Highly competent, able and motivated to provide a high standard of service with a customer focus.
- Able to organise and prioritise a personal workload, including the setting and monitoring of priorities
- Good communicator with good analytical skills and the ability to make maximum use of IT systems.
- Experience of working in a front-line or customer focussed environment is essential.
- The demands of the service require that the majority of annual leave is taken in school holiday periods.
