Details:

Sutton College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Adult Social Care Tutor to deliver the Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Level 1 Award (NCFE) as an online course and potentially classroom-based qualifications including Falls Prevention Awareness Level 2 Certificate (NCFE); Awareness of Dementia Level 3 Award (NCFE); Principles of End of Life Care Level 3 Certificate (NCFE) and Understanding Mental Health Level 3 Certificate (NCFE).

You will support learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the adult social care sector helping them to explore roles in this field.

You will:

  • Ensure a safe and organised learning environment, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Create a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere that promotes skills development and confidence.
  • Engage learners by using a range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit a diverse range of learners.
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support learning and development.

The post holder will teach the Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Level 1 Award (NCFE) online using Google Classroom. Other Health and Social Care related courses will be taught onsite at the college. The post holder will ensure high-quality delivery through the implementation of quality assurance processes and contribute to the college’s growth by supporting a vibrant curriculum and aim to achieve excellent learner outcomes. Additionally, the role involves assisting with focused curriculum development, personalised employment support, and learner progression. The post holder will help meet the college’s strategic goals, especially targeting priority groups under the Adult Skills Fund, and will collaborate with the Head of Curriculum & Quality to deliver a high-quality programme aligned with learner and employer needs.

We are very interested in tutors who are able to support learners to:

  • Achieve their personal and academic goals
  • Achieve the qualification, and gain life skills within and outside the classroom
  • Prepare learners for their next steps in learning or work

You should have a passion for teaching, good subject and industry knowledge, and a desire to develop and enhance learners’ opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:

You should have experience of:

  • Teaching in Adult Education or Further Education Post 16 college/ training environment
  • Experience of teaching a range of levels in the subject area
  • Experience of quality improvement processes which support and develop practice

Professional Experience

  • An appropriate teaching qualification for the Post 16 Sector (e.g. DET / Cert. Ed. or equivalent)
  • A qualification in the subject specialism (to at least Level 4 e.g. HND, 1st Degree), an in-depth knowledge and a minimum of 3 years’ substantial experience in the subject area you are applying for
  • Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) qualifications in English & Mathematics
