Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service (DACES) is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced English, Maths and ESOL subject specialist tutors to our tutor pool.

DACES English, Maths and ESOL classes are delivered both online and face-to-face in our centres, outreach and partner venues across Derbyshire. We offer a mixture of tailored learning and qualification courses to adult learners and young people aged 14-19. The qualifications we currently offer are Functional Skills and GCSE in Maths and English and ESOL Skills for Life at entry level.

Once appointed to the tutor pool tutors can be asked to cover for absent colleagues or build a working pattern to suit on a course-by-course basis. This makes this role ideal for both those who only want a few hours a week to those who want to build a more substantive role and timetable of classes.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who can work in the following areas:

ESOL – Fairfield, Bolsover and Shirebrook.

English – Bolsover, Cotmanhay, Swadlincote and countywide online delivery.

Maths – Bolsover, Cotmanhay and Swadlincote and countywide online delivery.

Applicants should:

  • Hold an adult teaching qualification and a recognised subject specialist qualification.
  • Have experience of work with adult and/or young people.
  • Have experience of delivering subject content.
  • Be able to deliver in a blended learning approach to maintain engagement, interaction and motivation of learners.
  • Be committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and British Values.

What we can offer you:

  • Opportunities for mentoring and support to develop your teaching skills.
  • A CPD programme including sector specific career progression.
  • A working pattern to suit you, agreed with your line manager.
  • Support to develop your digital skills and online teaching.
