Location for positions: Countywide cover; your base location will be agreed with you at interview

We are seeking a qualified Teacher to join West Sussex County Council (WSCC) as an Advisory Teacher, based within our Autism and Social Communication Team (ASCT), line managed by the ASCT lead.
You will be able to use your skills and knowledge to professionally lead inclusive practice and focus on learning and behaviour in schools to improve pupil progress and access to learning.

As an Advisory Teacher for ASCT you will specialise and focus on Social Communication differences and Autism. You will use your inclusive practice and teaching skills to improve pupil progress and access to learning.
You will act as an ambassador to enhance the quality of inclusive teaching and learning, leading on developing and supporting the continuous improvement of settings and pupil progress.
This role will involve building trusting relationships whilst working closely with colleagues and partners across educational settings and within our Specialist Advisory Teaching Service, such as leaders, managers, governors, parents, and practitioners.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the future of SEND across West Sussex. As we deliver our ambitious SEND Reform and Transformation Programme, we are redesigning how support is provided to children, young people and families through our developing Experts at Hand (locality inclusion networks) model. This approach brings together expertise from across education, health and care to create a system that is proactive, preventative and rooted in strong relationships with children, young people and their families.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a knowledge and understanding of autism with a passion for inclusive practice in all areas of work. You will be able to challenge existing practices and identify innovative solutions.

Key Skills:
- Ability to make sound pragmatic problem-solving decisions and provide comprehensive professional advice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written), with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships to successfully influence, persuade, and negotiate effective outcomes.
- Ability to challenge existing practices and identify innovative solutions to improve learning outcomes for children and young people.
- Excellent inclusive practice and teaching skills with a good knowledge of SEND and ability to advise on Autism and Social Communication Differences.
- Sound and accurate IT skills to enhance teaching and learning.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- Educated to degree level with QTS.
- Experience of supporting pupils with social communication differences and Autism.
- Experience of Leading on Inclusion e.g. SENCO or similar.
- Current driving licence.

About Us
The Autism and Social Communication Team (ASCT) is part of our Specialist Advisory Teaching Service (SATS), sitting within our Education and Skills Directorate, supporting the delivery of inclusion in schools for children and young people.
The Inclusion Strategy focuses on providing support and challenge to all school leaders with a significant emphasis on ensuring appropriately inclusive practice in our schools.
The ASCT provides advice and support to schools for individual pupils with autism, social and communication needs to enable schools to provide best inclusive practice for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The team also provides a variety of training to schools (e.g., Understanding and Supporting Autism, Practical Classroom Strategies, Masking and Developing Self-Regulation etc) The team also provides courses for parents (e.g., Earlybird+ and Exploring Autism)
