Job summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, with responsibility for an annual budget of over £10bn, the Army is a major part of the Ministry of Defence and one of its largest operating centres who employ around 12,000 Civil Servants located at over 300 locations supporting the 110K regular and reserve soldiers across the Army. This Civil Service workforce is diverse, with many different functions and professions ranging from police officers, security guards, trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff.
Headquarters, Joint Military Commander (JMC) Centre, enables the delivery of Firm Base support to the Army, its personnel, and their dependants from the Welsh borders in the West to Lowestoft in the East. The Headquarters delivers Real Life Support to Garrisons, Stations and Units within the Central area. It is also responsible for the engagement with the civilian community and acts as the proponent for UK Resilience in time of need.

Job description
Station Headquarters’ mission is to provide effective logistical and infrastructure support to all units, agencies, and lodgers resident within Kendrew Barracks. The Station Storekeeper is part of a small team located in the Station Quartermasters Department which focuses on delivering Firm Base logistical support. The team provides multiple outputs across the largest Army site in the East Midlands.
You will have the opportunity to work in a team delivering the support units need to enable them to live, work and train for operations. The team is responsible for laundry, waste management, fire safety, stores and accounting procedures and some aspects of Soft Facilities Management supporting our Industry Partners. We are looking for someone who is confident and proactive, who can prioritise their work across multiple areas of delivery. We are looking for a team player who can deliver excellent customer service. We need someone who relishes a different challenge and wants to make a difference.
The Storekeeper role is fast paced and diverse which brings different challenges. The team supports service personnel from various units. The stores are key to supporting the work they do to be ready for operations.
Main Role Responsibilities:
- Day to day Control, supervision and management of the Bulk Fuel Installation and Bulk Fuel Storage area. in accordance with laid down regulations and procedures.
- Managing the Station (Stn ) Petroleum, Oils, Lubricants (POL) account.
- Managing and demanding fuel as required to support the Motorised Transport Fuel Installation (MTFI) and other Stn managed assets.
- Control and supervision of the Washdown Facility in accordance with laid down regulations and procedures.
- Ensure only authorised users can use either the POL Point or Washdown facility.
- Ensure the facilities are kept clean tidy in accordance with current H&S requirements.
- Assist in the wider Quartermaster department, with Defence Accommodation Stores (DAS) and Miscellaneous Stores Account (MSA); receipting and issuing of the stores manually and on Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI)
- Provide and control access to Station Scrap Compound in accordance with procedures; maintaining a register of use; providing advice to lodger units on waste disposal routes;
- Providing facility for the disposal of hazardous waste and petroleum, oils and lubricants (POL) products, segregating waste and stores in the appropriate manner and facilitating contractor waste collections through Defence Equipment Sales
- Occasional forklift truck (FLT) Driver/operator.

Key Skills Required:
- Able to communicate clearly
- A level of physically fitness as there is a deal of manual handling, some heavy, involved in this positions
- Able to build good working relationships with a variety of partners, both internal and external to the organisation providing support to a wide range of people of different backgrounds
- Initiative to prioritise workload to meet changing priorities
- Good Information Technology skills, including basic Microsoft Office 365.
Desirable skills:
- Have previous experience in store keeping
- Experience in Managing and controlling Petroleum products and environments.
- Knowledge or previous employment within the MoD
- Fork lift licence & experience, full training will be provided.
