Salary Grade M1 £39,051- £42,659
Plus essential car user allowance.
1 Year fixed term (Maternity Cover)
Full Time - 36 hours a week, but will consider Part Time 28.8 hours a week (salary would be pro-rata)
We are looking to recruit an Arts and Cultural Development Manager to join the Leisure & Community Development Team at Spelthorne Borough Council.
This is an exciting, broad, and varied role, responsible for managing the Council’s arts and heritage programmes, developing initiatives to inspire the community and increase engagement in the arts and culture. The position is part of a passionate team that puts the community at the heart of everything we do.
It is an exciting time to join Spelthorne’s Leisure and Community Development Team. In 2026 the role will be responsible for delivering the Spelthorne Youth Awards as well as helping to deliver the community engagement strand of Escalate Arts, The Arts Council Funded Partnership initiative looking to increase arts engagement across the borough.
As the Arts and Community Development Manager you will encourage greater collaboration between local arts groups, strengthening the local arts sector. You will work in partnership with key stakeholders, explore funding opportunities and develop initiatives based on existing and emerging needs, setting targets and monitoring outcomes.
You will also be responsible for overseeing management of the Spelthorne Resource Centre acting as the principle point of contact for temporary staff.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience of arts and heritage programming. Someone with a can-do attitude, willingness to work independently and as part of a team, with a passion for community development and the ability to manage casual staff and volunteers.
You will be comfortable working with spreadsheets and databases and be able to interpret and convey complex information in plain English for a variety of audiences.
Please note that this post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements. The post requires some evening and weekend work.
Please note as part of the employment checks, this post will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Also, this post has an essential car user allowance attached to it. A valid driving licence, and access to a vehicle insured for business use will be required.
Spelthorne Borough Council use the Microsoft Authenticator app as a secure way of accessing our network. Successful candidates will be required to use their own mobile device to download and use Authenticator.
