What will you be doing?

The adult sensory service is a small Kent wide team which has the knowledge, skills and experience to work with d/Deaf and deaf-blind individuals, whatever their communication preferences, including British Sign Language (BSL). Our aim is to assist people affected by deafness or deaf blindness to empower them to lead as full and independent life as possible.

Our vision is about engagement with the people we work with and really understanding and knowing what is important to the person and their families/ cares to achieve meaningful and positive outcomes. We are committed to an innovative approach and looking at how we can use technology to support service user’s independence and quality of life. Overall, we are passionate about the people we work with and are looking for someone who shares the same values as us.

This role requires strong interpersonal and organisational skills, good IT skills and an understanding of systems is essential. You will need the ability to communicate effectively with a range of different people, have an understanding of working with vulnerable adults and be committed to the principles of independent living.

Do you have the skills and experience of managing a dynamic caseload, working in partnership to assess and review the care and support plans for the people we support. This will ensure that they achieve improved outcomes, whilst promoting their independence.

The successful candidate will also be able to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
