Are you an ambitious, detail-oriented finance professional looking to take the next step in your career? Join our dynamic Finance Team at Folkestone & Hythe District Council and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial support across a range of services and projects.

There are two Assistant Accountant roles available, supporting ‘Finance, Strategy & Resource’ and ‘Housing & Operations’. If you have a specific interest in either of these areas, please make this clear in the Supporting Information section of your application.

Key Responsibilities
• Support budget preparation, monitoring, and final accounts.
• Lead on financial aspects of assigned service areas and council-wide projects.
• Prepare statutory returns, reconciliations, and control accounts.
• Provide financial advice and analysis to budget holders and service managers.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and board members.

Candidate Requirements
• Financial qualification or recent and relevant experience that demonstrates finance proficiency.
• Experience of computerised financial information systems.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse financial data and present to non-financial recipients.
• High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
• Experience in local government finance is desirable but not essential.
