Shaping the Future of Policing in Leicestershire

The T/Chief Constable for Leicestershire Police, David Sandall is looking for inspirational and innovative leader as an Assistant Chief Constable to support him and the Force in delivering our duty to protect the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

Leicestershire Police serves an area covering 2,500 square miles with a population of over 1 million. It covers a wide geographical area ranging from the diverse communities of Leicester City to the surrounding market towns and rural communities of Leicestershire and Rutland. Neighbourhood policing is well embedded, and the East Midlands Collaboration is key to our success.

With a credible professional policing record of achievement, as Assistant Chief Constable you will contribute to the strategic direction of the Force and play a major role in embedding organisational culture and promoting values, ethics and high standards of professional conduct to enable and effective and professional service.

You will be adept at establishing working partnerships both locally and nationally, establishing relationships that are built on trust and confidence and drive our efforts to reduce harm and risk.

An inspirational and focused leader with a rare mix of operational and strategic thinking, you will be a team player who combines an incisive and decisive approach with a consultative and collaborative mind set.

You will lead responses to particularly high risk and/or cross-Force major events and serious investigations, setting strategic objectives and priorities, assessing and managing threat and risks, directing the deployment of resources to ensure appropriate and effective response in line with legal and Force requirements.

With a focus on innovation, you will have ambitions and vision to create a police service which is capable of meeting its policing commitments, now and in the future.

Underpinning all of this will be real drive, resilience and a passion to succeed.

The opportunity is open to:

  • Substantive Assistant Chief Constables.
  • Chief Superintendents/Superintendents ready for substantive promotion having completed and successfully passed the Executive Leadership Programme or Senior Command Course.
