Join us as an Assistant Design & Technical Coordinator and help deliver high‑quality homes at L&Q

At L&Q, we’re proud to build and maintain homes that people can be proud of. Our Design & Technical teams play a vital role in turning great designs into safe, compliant, and high-quality homes for our residents.

As an Assistant Design & Technical Coordinator, you’ll support the technical design progression of projects on site, working closely with our Senior Design & Technical Managers and external consultants. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the reconstruction of existing sites, including roads, sewers and housing remediation works.

We’re driven by our purpose to provide social homes and landlord services that everyone can be proud of — and this role is key to making that happen.

If this sounds like you, we would love for you to apply!

Your impact in the role:

You’ll play an important supporting role in the successful delivery of technically compliant and well-coordinated housing projects. Working as part of the Design & Technical Team, you will:

  • Support Technical Managers in managing the design process for allocated projects, ensuring design and technical issues are resolved within agreed resource allowances.
  • Assist with the appointment, coordination, and ongoing management of external consultants.
  • Review consultant tenders and support quality assurance of drawn and technical information.
  • Coordinate information flow and data management to support reporting and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend and contribute to Design Team Meetings, ensuring actions and information are clearly captured and followed through.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects meet agreed objectives, timescales, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support health and safety risk appraisals and ensure developments comply with Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.

By supporting the design progression from inception through completion, you’ll help ensure L&Q delivers safe, sustainable, and high-quality homes.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience working on residential development projects within a contractor, developer, or housing environment.
  • Understanding of the technical design process and the full development lifecycle.
  • Experience coordinating consultants and managing deadlines across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to review and check the quality and accuracy of technical and drawn information.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and awareness of renewable technologies.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with attention to detail and an understanding of programme management.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with consultants, site teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • IT skills including AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and email (experience with project planning tools is desirable).
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or working towards a relevant professional qualification (desirable).

If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage during this process, including application stage, please email lqcareers@lqgroup.org.uk
