Stanley School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. One Assistant Headteacher is already in post, and we are now looking to appoint a second AHT to complete our leadership team.


This is a significant opportunity for an ambitious and passionate leader who is committed to improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and who wishes to develop towards senior leadership.


About the Role


The Assistant Headteacher is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to drive whole-school improvement, raise standards and ensure the highest quality of education for all our pupils.


The successful candidate will lead on a defined area of curriculum development and quality of education, working collaboratively alongside the existing Assistant Headteacher.


The specific area of responsibility (Core Curriculum or Wider Curriculum) will be confirmed following appointment, taking into account the strengths of the successful candidate and the expertise of the AHT already in post.


In addition to leadership responsibilities, the role includes a 50% teaching commitment, enabling the post-holder to model exemplary classroom practice and directly impact pupil outcomes.
Key Responsibilities


Contribute to the strategic leadership, vision and ethos of the school
Lead curriculum design, development and evaluation within your designated area
Monitor and improve the quality of teaching and learning
Support and develop curriculum coordinators and teaching staff through coaching and CPD
Track pupil progress and identify gaps in learning
Promote inclusive practice and high aspirations for all pupils
Play an active role in safeguarding, behaviour, wellbeing and enrichment
Teach and lead by example in the classroom, modelling outstanding SEND practice

About You


We are looking for a candidate who:


Is an excellent classroom practitioner with substantial SEND experience
Has a strong understanding of high-quality SEND pedagogy
Has a strong understanding of curriculum design, sequencing and assessment in a SEND context
Can inspire, challenge and support staff to achieve high standards
Is ready to take on whole-school leadership responsibility
Is committed to inclusive education and improving outcomes for all pupils
Is reflective, resilient and committed to professional growth.
Leadership experience and qualifications such as NPQSL are desirable but not essential.
