Salary range: Soulbury Assistant 2-5 £37,265 - £41,616 p.a. plus fantastic benefits
Contract: Fixed Term (12m)
Hours of work: Full-time: 36 hours per week

Job Purpose
Croydon Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is highly valued with established relationships with local educational establishments and other services within the Council, NHS and voluntary sector. We are a supportive team, committed to the best outcomes for Croydon’s children and young people. We are looking to recruit a full-time Assistant Psychologist who wishes to develop their understanding of applied psychology, predominantly in early years educational contexts. Under the direct supervision of an HCPC registered Educational Psychologist and in close collaboration with other professionals, the post holders will:
Support staff and families to meet the needs of children in the early years with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, through advice, assessment and intervention.
Support setting staff and families to navigate the statutory process, potentially considering placement within specialist settings, and facilitating the smooth transition into school.
This post will be particularly relevant to those seeking to gain knowledge, skills and experience in preparation for applying for doctoral training courses in educational psychology. We anticipate that successful candidates will join the team in September 2026.
About You

Educated to BSc/BA level in Psychology which provides graduate basis for registration of the British Psychological Society.
Understanding of child development, including language and learning development, autism, and social, emotional and mental health, especially of young children.
Experience of working with children and/or young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, especially in early years settings.
Experience of research/project work relevant to children with SEND.
Sensitivity to and concern for the needs of children, young people and their families.
