Job summary

We’re looking for an exceptional Associate Commercial Manager to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Associate Commercial Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise

In this role the Associate Commercial Manager is expected to support the end-to-end sourcing of a range of requirements, providing commercial support to our operational procurements to enable them to build experience across the commercial team. The job holder is expected to evolve their commercial skills in all aspects of procurement, including tendering, supply, contract and supplier management and compliance, working closely with stakeholders.

Job description

  • Supports the end-to-end procurement (conducts pre-procurement market engagement to ensure that the requirement is clear and attractive to a diverse range of suppliers, develops bidders’ packs, reviews, and clarifies the specification and develops the evaluation requirements)Uses e-sourcing, e-tendering tools, and other electronic tools, programmes or software as required to support the Commercial lifecycle.
  • Identifies perceived and relevant areas of risk, confirms there is a shared understanding of risk, how it is to be allocated and gains agreement on how it is to be managed.
  • Applies the appropriate level of governance and legal compliance to procurements.
  • Demonstrates that the scale and depth of contract management is dependent on the nature of the contract and its importance to achieving organisational and policy goals.

As our Associate Commercial Manager, your total reward package will be up to £49,448 annually, which includes:

  • £35,145 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £2,000 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2026 until March 2027 in your monthly pay
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
