Job summary

In the world of national security, your work will do exactly that. No two pieces of work are the same. Your adaptable approach will enable you to support the delivery of projects at pace, whether that’s a hands-on agile team role, a project, or a collection of smaller tasks and activities forming a system, programme or portfolio. You will facilitate delivery of small to medium projects or services.
You will be part of the delivery management team, working alongside other delivery professionals, including project managers and business analysts. You will leverage your knowledge in Project, Portfolio, or Delivery Management to support diverse teams, who bring unique perspectives and solutions to the most innovative challenges in national security. Your communication skills will be crucial in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally. You will be managing customer experiences as well as ensuring teams work collaboratively to deliver results fast.
This is a people-focussed role which involves building and maintaining relationships and translating organisational strategies into clear business outcomes and deliverables.
You’ll gain a unique perspective of our business, working closely with a broad range of teams to proactively enable the delivery of our organisation’s vision.
HMGCC is a corporate affiliate with the Association for Project Management (APM). As an established project, portfolio or delivery manager, you’ll have experience of delivery and management best practices and be able to support teams from day one. You will receive mentoring from our Delivery Managers and will be able to develop your career through training courses and professional accreditation – we invest in our people.

Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the delivery team, you will:
- Facilitate delivery without support or supervision of small/medium pieces of work.
- Deliver with confidence using a recognised delivery method.
- Maintain and enhance good stakeholder relations through effective communications, report progress and issues appropriately and effectively.
- Support the key stakeholders to identify and leverage benefits and improvements to processes, working in partnership with the team to plan how these will be achieved.
- Support risk management and assurance activities, successfully managing technical and commercial risks as part of successful delivery; preparing and maintaining delivery, quality and risk plans.
- Champion the use of best practice and tailor different delivery methodologies to the work being delivered.
- Identify obstacles and help teams to overcome them.
- Remain up to date on developments in the delivery and project management profession.

More about you
To apply for this role, you will already have:
- Experience in using a variety of tools, techniques, methodologies and best practices across the project management lifecycle.
- Successfully delivered medium projects or other objectives.
- The ability to influence others and move forward to a common vision or goal.
- A proven track record of delivery.
It would be beneficial if you have (although these are not essential):
- A level of professional accreditation and/or membership of a recognised project management body like APM.
