We are recruiting a Bereavement Services Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Ty Bargoed

We pay an attractive salary of £39,152 - £41,771 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are looking to advertise a Bereavement Services Officer to join our professional and committed team. The Bereavement Officer provides specialist administrative and customer facing support for the delivery of statutory burial, cremation, and memorial services.

The role is responsible for maintaining accurate legal records, processing interment and cremation documentation, managing burial rights and memorial applications, and coordinating bookings with funeral directors, families, and operational teams.

The postholder ensures compliance with relevant legislation and council policies, delivers compassionate and professional support to bereaved families, and helps safeguard service continuity, income, and operational standards across cemeteries and related bereavement services.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, subject guidance and best practice, including sound knowledge of The Burial Act 1857 and up to date amendments; The Local Authorities Cemeteries Order (LACO) 1977; Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) regulations and National Association for Memorial Masons (NAMM) regulations and all current Government Guidance relating to funerals and burials.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a Council vehicle.
