Could you give children a safe, positive start to their school day?

We are looking for a caring, organised and enthusiastic Breakfast Club Officer to supervise and support pupils attending our breakfast club. You will help create a welcoming environment where children can enjoy a healthy breakfast, take part in purposeful activities and prepare positively for the school day.

You will work closely with colleagues, parents and pupils, following the school’s policies and procedures to promote children’s safety, wellbeing, inclusion and good behaviour.

A typical morning might include

  • Preparing the breakfast club area and welcoming pupils as they arrive.
  • Providing appropriate food and snacks in line with food hygiene, allergy and health and safety requirements.
  • Organising safe, creative and inclusive play activities for children.
  • Supervising pupils carefully and encouraging positive behaviour, mutual respect and co-operative play.
  • Communicating relevant information to parents and school staff while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Keeping the club secure, maintaining resources and completing basic records, stock checks and tidying.

What you will bring

  • Experience of working with children or young people in a school environment.
  • Experience of planning and delivering play activities for children.
  • Clear verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills for maintaining basic records and updating information.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and the importance of providing a safe and effective care environment.
  • A supportive, flexible approach, with the ability to work as part of a team, follow direction and use your initiative.
  • A Basic Food Hygiene and Safety certificate, or willingness to complete the training.
  • A First Aid certificate, or willingness to complete First Aid training.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.

Why join us?

Make a visible difference: help children begin the day feeling safe, settled and ready to learn.

A warm, inclusive community: join a school nationally recognised as an Inclusion Quality Mark Flagship School.

Local Government Pension Scheme: a defined-benefit pension with employer contributions.

Training and development: access relevant training, including Food Hygiene and First Aid where required.

The school is the contractual place of work, and travel to school is at your own cost.
