Building Maintenance Officer
We are recruiting for a repair’s administrator role, located within our Building Maintenance office at Hurst Green, Surrey.
About the Role
You’ll be helping us meet our tenants needs, ensuring their homes remain safe and secure by handling requests for repairs or maintenance from a range of customers via phone and email. Working alongside our service engineers and supervisors you’ll triage requests and schedule appointments, as well as ensuring works are carried out promptly. To complete the process, invoices received must be checked for accuracy, and all computer records updated.
We provide a friendly, enabling, and motivating work environment, often collaborating with other teams to achieve successful outcomes.
Who we’re looking for
The person we are seeking must have a professional telephone manner, be a good problem solver with a keen eye for detail and want to provide the highest standard of customer service possible.
Our team handles multiple household repair calls and many require urgent attention, so clear communication skills, confidence, and empathy are necessary in this role. We want to ensure our customers receive a positive customer-service experience and their repairs are dealt with quickly.
Administratively you must be able to navigate computer systems, have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your own workload, as well as work as a team towards shared goals and KPIs.
What we offer
When you join us your expertise, skills and experience will be valued, and your career development will be our priority.
We are committed to creating a collaborative and innovative environment which empowers you to thrive. You will be part of a friendly, supportive One Team culture with the chance to make a real difference.
We believe in balancing hard work with fun. Our active social team organises two to three events a year, ranging from Staff Awards, quiz nights to rounders in the park, helping the workplace to be productive and enjoyable.
We use Viva Engage to keep you connected and engaged and we hold regular face to face meetings, such as Chief Executive briefings to keep you in the loop.
We are conveniently located close to Hurst Green Station and have on-site parking.
In addition to the stated pay, we offer membership and contributions towards the Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible working (giving you the opportunity to work from home for up to two to three days a week), payment of a relevant professional subscription and access to a discounted health scheme.

Local Government Reorganisation
Surrey is part of the government’s plans for local government reorganisation. This means the current two tier system, where services are split between Surrey County Council and district and borough councils like Tandridge, will be replaced with larger councils, which handle all local services.
Although this may lead to some uncertainty for anyone considering a role with us, this process will take several years and during that time we still need to provide services.
When local government is reorganised, most staff will transfer to the new council which may offer additional opportunities for career development and variety as part of a larger organisation. The majority of the roles we currently have will still be needed whether that is for planning, housing, recycling and waste, finance, IT, HR etc
