Building Surveyor
Building Surveyor
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a role where every day is different?
Join our Repairs Team and play a key part in delivering high-quality property services across a diverse housing stock from general needs homes to supported and sheltered schemes, and even leasehold blocks.
You’ll be joining our Operations Directorate, working within Repairs Operations, a key priority for our organisation. This team is central to delivering safe, well-maintained homes and ensuring residents receive a responsive, high-quality service.
Repairs Operations is critical to our mission: protecting homes, improving living standards, and driving efficiency across our property portfolio. By managing voids and repairs effectively, we help create sustainable communities and deliver on our promise to get things right the first time.
What you’ll do
- Carry out technical surveys, pre- and post-inspections, and manage cases from start to finish.
- Oversee specialist works, ensuring jobs are coded correctly using Schedule of Rates (SOR) and deliver value for money.
- Assess quotes, challenge over-coding, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Manage a patch within the Northwest region, engaging with residents through monthly surgeries (4–6 per month).
- Provide clear communication to residents and stakeholders, including responses to executive queries and Ombudsman cases.
- Work closely with contractors to ensure works are completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified: HNC or RICS accredited (or working towards), with hands-on experience in building surveying within housing (social housing or local authority).
- Strong knowledge of responsive repairs (not quantity surveying).
- Excellent IT, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
- Forward-thinking, enthusiastic, and a true team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
