Job summary

The role:

The business change manager will play a key role in proactively preparing the business for the impact of the changes providing a bridge between our key programmes of work and the business to ensure that activities are planned and completed to enable the business to implement the agreed change and realise the business benefits.

This role works across a complex portfolio of programmes and projects and the post holder will need to provide leadership, coordination and expertise to help the organisation understand, prepare for, adopt and embed change.

Job description

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide visible and effective leadership, leading the business change management activity and work with project managers to deliver the business case benefits and outcomes.
  • Develop clear vision and standards and champion the use of best practice business change management standards, tools and processes.
  • Build strong networks both internally and externally, assessing and understanding the impact on stakeholders to improve the likelihood of their adoption of the change
  • Lead on the change management elements of the business case.
  • Lead the creation of the required Business Change products for the project.
  • Lead on engagement with key contacts
  • Ensure products are used appropriately by the Project team and/or the wider organisation.
  • Establish and maintain the change plan for the project and provide input into the overall Project Plan.
  • Identify, qualify, and update the business readiness criteria before implementation. Reporting on the tracking of these to 'approve/refuse' go-live to the Project Leadership team.
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders to plan benefits realisation as part of all Business Change activities.
  • Lead on Business Change messaging, working closely with the Communications team providing content for communications relating to Business Change across projects or programmes
  • Identify, classify, and update stakeholder engagement plans. Lead stakeholder engagement on projects or programmes to ensure it meets Business Change requirements.
  • Provide direction and guidance to team and support development of others.
  • Lead Business Change activities across the project.
  • Follow the Gambling Commission’s portfolio and project delivery frameworks and contributing towards its continuous improvement.

Person specification

What we’re looking for:

Essential criteria:

  • Relevant project management qualification (APM, Prince 2, Agile)
  • Significant experience of leading and managing business change from design through to implementation to business as usual in a programme delivery environment.
  • Ability to assess and manage the impact of change, understanding how change will affect people, process, services, roles, technology and ways of working.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence senior leaders, programme and project teams, operational colleagues and other stakeholders with the ability to engage them with change.
  • Experience of developing and delivering business change approaches, plans, interventions and the realisation of programme benefits to support the successful implementation and adoption of change.

Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of Government Functional Standard for Project Delivery
  • Previous experience working in a Regulatory or Governmental organisation.
