Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time, 35 hours

Salary: £40,649 per annum (London weighted salary) or £36,073 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: 8

Reporting Office: London, Stratford or Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

This is an ideal role for a results-oriented, creative, analytical, and detail-oriented person who seeks to develop a career in business planning and/or strategy and planning.

Our business plans are the home of the activity to deliver our Future Shape Corporate Strategy, with its priorities to deliver safe, decent homes allied to reliable, consistent customer service. You will report to the Head of Business Planning within the Governance and Transformation Directorate, and work closely with other senior leaders across L&Q to deliver high quality, consistent business planning for the organisation.

This opportunity has arisen at an exciting time, as the team are beginning to build the strategic plan to underpin L&Q’s next Corporate Strategy. You will join an agile, high-performing and values-driven team at the heart of L&Q’s programme of change to set L&Q up for success over the long term.

Your impact in the role:

The Business Planning Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our Corporate Strategy. Key responsibilities will be to:
  • Establish the annual cycle of planning activities and ensure the team have what they need to execute this.
  • Analyse plans from across different business functions to build a total view of what L&Q will deliver in both the short and longer term.
  • Produce assurance reporting on the plan and performance against it.
  • Inform L&Q’s communications narrative about what our plans will deliver.

What you'll bring:

  • A passion for delivering excellence and results. You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of your assignments, working at pace.
  • You will apply a structured but pragmatic approach to problem definition and use data to support the analysis of issues and their root causes.
  • An excellent communicator with great engagement skills, you know how to take stakeholders on the journey. This will enable you to build strong relationships and work collaboratively to always deliver at the highest level.
  • You have a record of using data intelligently to make wise decisions without over complicating things. You are great at prioritising and focusing on what matters most, not getting lost in the detail and acting quickly when things just are not right.
  • Housing experience is not essential but to be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate experience and understanding of:
  • An understanding of the business planning, and strategic planning processes
  • Excellent organisation, planning and co-ordination skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking detailed tasks in a fast-paced project environment
  • Creative thinking and ability to support technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly within a matrix management environment
  • Empathy and diplomacy
