Location: Council Offices, Benfleet

Job Title: Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor

Full Time – 37 hours per week
Grade: 9- Starting £48,226

Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Project Management Surveyor to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in delivering capital projects and managing the Council’s commercial and community assets (non-housing).

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead on a wide range of projects from minor refurbishments to major capital investment schemes
  • Provide expert advice on building fabric, infrastructure, and strategic investment decisions
  • Conduct detailed building surveys and condition assessments
  • Prepare specifications, tenders, and cost estimates
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and relevant legislation
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong project management experience with ability to oversee multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills for analytical and management purposes

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building and facilities-related work
  • MRICS or equivalent professional qualification
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, JCT contracts, and building compliance
  • Full driving licence and own vehicle

Desirable:

  • Experience in the public sector or local authority environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within construction
  • Familiarity with Essex area and community ethos
